Hueston Woods

For this project I designed a lake side nature center. The building serves to provide learning and research facilities, will providing views of the landscape and using passive heating and cooling strategies. The building takes advantage of the prevailing wind to encourage natural ventilation, while using proper eves and sun shelves to limit direct sun exposure. The central atrium which contains exhibits and connects the other spaces, architecturally mimics the experience of the surrounding forest by using chaotic column placement and strategic skylights.
